How can we help?
How to play, answers to common questions, and a way to reach us if you’re still stuck.
How do I play?
Swipe up, down, left or right to slide every tile on the 4×4 grid. When two tiles with the same number touch, they merge into one worth double, and a new 2 or 4 appears after every move. Make the 2048 tile to win. The game ends when the grid is full and no tiles can merge.
What happens when I reach 2048?
You’ll see the 2048 Achieved screen. Tap Keep Going to carry on toward 4096 and beyond with the same board, or New Run to start fresh.
How does undo work?
The undo button takes back your most recent move, including the new tile that appeared after it. It works even when the board has locked up and the game is over. Undo goes back one move at a time: after undoing, make another move to be able to undo again.
Is my game saved?
Yes. Your current game and best score save automatically on your device, so you can close the app and pick up right where you left off.
How do I reset my best score?
Tap the gear icon to open Settings, then Reset Best Score. Your record goes back to the current game’s score. This can’t be undone.
I can’t hear any sound.
Future 2048 respects your Silent switch, so its chimes stay quiet while your iPhone is on silent. Also check that Sound Effects is on in the app’s Settings and that your volume is up.
Can I turn off haptics or the moving background?
Yes. Settings has separate switches for Sound Effects, Haptics and Animated Background. If Reduce Motion is on in your device’s accessibility settings, the background stays still automatically.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes. On iPad with a hardware keyboard, use the arrow keys or W, A, S and D to move the tiles.
Does it work with VoiceOver?
Partly. With VoiceOver on, select the game board and use the actions rotor to move the tiles up, down, left or right, and the score and best score are read aloud. Individual tiles aren’t fully described yet; we’re working on it.
Which devices are supported?
Any iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
Does it need the internet?
No. Future 2048 works fully offline and never uses the network.
Does the app collect my data?
No. There are no ads, accounts or tracking, and nothing leaves your device. See the privacy policy.
Is this the original 2048?
Future 2048 is an original iPhone and iPad game inspired by the open-source 2048 puzzle by Gabriele Cirulli (MIT License). All of its code, artwork and sound are new.
