How can we help?

How to play, answers to common questions, and a way to reach us if you’re still stuck.

How do I play?

Tap a square to dig. Each number tells you how many mines touch that square, including diagonals. Use the numbers to work out where the mines are, flag them, and open every safe square to win. Dig a mine and the game is over.

Is the first tap really always safe?

Yes. The mines aren’t placed until your first tap, and they always avoid that square and the eight around it, so your first tap opens an area to start from.

How do I place a flag?

Long-press a square: you’ll feel a tick as the flag goes down. Long-press again to remove it. If you’d rather tap, switch the control under the board from Dig to Flag; then a tap flags and a long press digs.

What does tapping a number do?

If a number already has that many flags around it, tapping it opens all of its other neighbours at once. This is called chording, and it’s the fastest way to clear a board. If one of your flags is wrong, a mine goes off, so flag carefully.

What is no-guess mode?

In ordinary boards you’ll sometimes reach a spot where two squares are equally likely to hide a mine, and you have to guess. With No-guess boards on, a built-in solver checks every new board and only deals one that can be cleared from your first tap by logic alone. Turn it on in Settings or when starting a new game; it applies from the next game.

How do I zoom and move around big boards?

Pinch to zoom in, then drag to pan. Tap the fit button in the corner to zoom back out to the whole board. On iPhone, the wide Expert board turns upright so it fills the screen.

Which levels are there?

Beginner (9 × 9, 10 mines), Intermediate (16 × 16, 40 mines), Expert (30 × 16, 99 mines) and Custom, where you choose the width, height and number of mines. Tap the grid button at the top to start a new game.

Is my game saved?

Yes. Your current game, including the clock, saves automatically on your device, so you can close the app and pick up right where you left off.

How do best times work?

Your fastest clear for Beginner, Intermediate and Expert is kept on your device and shown when you win and in Settings. Custom boards aren’t ranked. You can reset them in Settings.

I can’t hear any sound.

Future Mines respects your Silent switch, so it stays quiet while your iPhone is on silent. Also check that Sound is on in the app’s Settings and that your volume is up.

Does it work with VoiceOver?

Yes. Every square is read out with its row, column and state, such as “hidden”, “flagged” or “2 mines nearby”. Double-tap to dig, or use the actions rotor to reveal, flag, or open a number’s neighbours.

Are the numbers colour-blind friendly?

Yes. The number colours are chosen to stay distinct with the common forms of colour blindness, and every count is always printed as a number, so colour is never the only clue.

Which devices are supported?

Any iPhone or iPad running iOS or iPadOS 17 or later.

Does it need the internet?

No. Future Mines works fully offline and never uses the network.

Does the app collect my data?

No. There are no ads, accounts or tracking, and nothing leaves your device. See the privacy policy.
