One person taps Start a Game, picks the card size, win pattern, lock timer and (optionally) where you're driving, then taps Get Game Code. Everyone else taps Join with a Code and types the 4-character code. Each player then taps Deal My Card.

The code picks a shared set of plates for the game, so everyone plays from the same pool. Each phone then deals its own card from that pool, so no two players have the same card.

No. Phones never talk to each other; the code carries everything they need. It works with no signal at all.

After typing a code, the app shows that game's rules. If they don't match the host's screen, the code was probably mistyped: go back and type it again. Codes use only letters and numbers with no vowels, and no 0 or 1.

Until the timer runs out, you can tap Reshuffle for a new card from the same plates (it clears your stamps). When the timer ends, every card is locked and can't change. The timer starts when you deal your card.

Tap a plate when you spot it on the road. Tapped the wrong one? Undo takes back your most recent stamp, and you can keep undoing back to the first.

The host picks one: a line (any row, column or diagonal), four corners, or a blackout (every plate on the card). On 3×3 and 5×5 cards the host can turn on a FREE centre space that counts as already spotted.

You do! The app celebrates on your phone, then it's up to you to shout it out. Agree as a car how strict to be about who spotted what first.

Pick a trip, such as West Coast, Northeast or Canada & the Border, and plates from that area turn up more often in the game. Any plate can still appear.

Every plate you stamp is added to your collection, which stays between trips. You can also tap plates there to add or remove them yourself, and reset it in Settings.

Yes. Your current card, stamps and lock time are saved on your device, so you can close the app between rest stops and pick up where you left off.

License Plate Bingo respects your Silent switch, so it stays quiet while your device is on silent. Also check that Sound Effects is on in the app's Settings.

No. Each plate is our own simplified drawing based on public facts about the current standard passenger plate (its colors and slogan). Real plates vary, with many specialty designs, so spot the state or province name rather than an exact match.
